Vascular Laser

Get rid of all those little blue or purplish coloured veins (telengiectasa) on your legs!

" I was so ashamed of those little blue veins on my ankles. The treatment worked brilliantly - they've all completely disappeared now! "
Linda L.

You, too, can make those unsightly veins on your legs disappear !

Advantages of laser treatment for leg veins :

- Rapidity. The treatment session lasts less than an hour. Besides, as soon as it is over, you can immediately go back to work.
- Efficiency: Most of the veins treated will disappear after only a single session.
- Safety: Laser treatments give far fewer side effects than other methods.

Who can best benefit from laser treatment for veins?

Laser treatment can benefit everybody, no matter what the skin type. It can be used instead of - or in conjunction with - vein sclerosis by injection or surgical intervention.
It is particularly effective in the treatment of small veins.
Ask your practitioner if your veins will respond well to the laser treatment.

How does the treatment work?

A light beam from the laser goes directly through the skin into the inside of the vein. Once in contact with the haemoglobin, the light beam is transformed into a thermal one which heats up the vessel walls, making them collapse.
The vein becomes white and then disappears. The waste products from its destruction are absorbed by the body's waste removal system - the macrophages.

What can I expect during the treatment?

After consultation with the practitioner, a treatment plan is decided on.
During the treatment, a layer of transparent gel is applied to the skin to facilitate the penetration of the light beam.
A permanently cooled laser head is then applied to the treatment area and the veins quickly treated.

Is the treatment painful?

The intensity of the pain depends on the size of the area treated and the location of the veins.
As a rule, you will feel almost nothing because of the instant cooling. Sometimes, you could have the feeling of an elastic band being snapped against the skin. But in general, the treatment is very well tolerated.

What can I expect after the treatment?

The treated area swells a little and reddens. It can be sensitive for a few hours or one to two days. You might have a red mark, like a little scratch; this hardly ever lasts more than a week or two.

After treatment, you will be asked to apply sunscreen over the area and to avoid heavy exercise. Your practitioner will give you advice, depending on your individual case.

How long do the treatments last?

Treating both legs takes about 30 minutes. It might take ten or fifteen minutes more if the area to be treated is quite large
As a rule, three sessions one month apart are necessary to eliminate large networks of veins. Fewer sessions are needed for isolated veins.

How long do the results last?

Veins which have been eliminated will not come back.
Some vein networks which are under pressure because they are in connection with deep veins can be repermeabilised and then reappear.
However, this treatment does not prevent the formation of new veins.
